I've just finished watching Ninomiya's Haha to Kuraseba film and although I liked his other films better, I still agree that the movie is a good choice to represent Japan in the upcoming 2017 Oscars Best Foreign Film Category.
The story is set in post-WWII Japan and revolves around a mother who is grieving the loss of her son during the Nagasaki bombing. She has resolved to move on with her life but was soon visited by the apparition of her beloved son.
I hope it will be shortlisted so I can see more of Nino in the international news ;) He deserves another break like this after Letters from Iwo Jima...
